Undecided Question

1400w 12"sub for base?

I know that a sub was made for base... But do you think that you can use a sub for mid-rabge speakers to play treble? 24 mths ago - -43 min left to vote.

Ok, it's bass and not base. And to answer your question - no. Sub woofers are made to play bass notes ( 200hz or less ), mid-range is for just that ( 200hz to about 8000hz ) and tweeters are designer to play high notes 0 8000hz and higher. Ok, some definitions spec the actual frequencies differently, but you get the idea. And if you talk about 1400 watt on a 12 inch speaker - you will need a lot of high frequency power to just move the speaker coils. My recommendation - buy a decent set of speakers that covers the entire audio spectrum in a nice linear curve. Ask for variable crossovers for the cutoff frequencies between bass, mid and treble.

No and always buy the largset diameter base speakers you can afford.
