Bladder/Kidney Infection
I have heard that one should drink about 2 litres of water a day if you have a bladder infection. Just want to find out if water used to make a cup or two of tea, is included in the 2 litres, or should you only drink two litres of water? I have also heard that if you eat a lot of sweet things and drink alcohol like wine, this can also cause one to get a bladder infection. Any truth in this? I only drink wine moderately, maybe two glasses a day, but do tend to have a sweet tooth.

Drink the water pure. Alcohol or sweets don't cause bladder infection, bacteria do. CRANBERRY juice really helps for bladder/kidney infection. It is unwise to take citrosoda for bladder infection - rather go to your GP / gynae and get an antibiotic. Good luck.

You have to drink 6 - 8 glasses of water a day. Drink Citro Soda it will also help with the bladder infection. Alcohol is not good when you have kidney/bladder infection and you should not drink until the infection is better.

UTI - Urinary tract infection is caused by bacteria. Wine and sweet things will not cause an infection. You should drink two litres of water every day, regardless of infections or not. Tea and coffee do count, but take note that caffeine is a diuretic - will cause you to wee more often. So rather stick to Rooibos or decaf. As to what causes UTi's - Any action that could introduce bacteria to your bottom (wiping the wrong way etc). Read up at http://www.health24.com/Woman/Common_conditions/711-712,11914.asp

I would say fresh water is best as it clears out the kidneys

Citro Soda is must surely the way to go. More important and I cannot state this fact more clearly... Do NOT drink tap water. The amount of chemicals in the water is bad for you. Get/buy RO (reverse osmosis) water or water system. Let the system purify (not filter, which is useless) the water, not you kidneys.

You can drink Citrosoda for a kidney or bladder infection, but if you prefer the homeopathic route, you can drink Cranberry Juice or get cranberry herbal meds from your pharmacist. The Urologist recommended this for my son.

Citro-Soda can ease the burn but its not an actual treatment for an infection. Only anti-biotics can do the job, but plain water helps too. Cranberry juice is fine to help prevent it, but once you have an infection, its really best to get to the doc so that the lab can figure out exactly what is causing the infection and be treated successfully.

The echinaforce Flu drops are said to work, but homeopathic remedies specifically for infection are available (Vogel?). Other health problems can contribute to infection. (Possibly diabetes?) CitroSoda only eases the burning sensation and does not cure the problem. "Ask your doc" is probably the best advice.
