Can anyone give advice or general info on working and living in Saudi Arabia?
My sister-in-law her husband and 3 month old baby might move to Saudi Arabia as her husband possibly found work there. Not sure where exactly in Saudi Arabia, but just generally want to know is it safe for her and the baby, should she rather stay here?

Probably Ryiaad. Hotashell. Very good money. All foreigners live in their own compounds....more like estates...very beautiful. Women who work have to wear an Abaja in town....not where they live. All homes have aircon. So worth it for a young couple. Save lots of money, come home and buy themselves a house. Very, very safe. No burglaries or murders.

My sister in law lives in a compound there. She is not allowed to drive. She either has to go with all the other women on a bus twice a week or has to wait for her husband to take her to the shops in the evening. When out in public she also has to wear the correct garb (totally covered). Once in the shops, she always talks about the praying - about 7 times a day - right there in the shops. She is quite content living on the compound though.

My daughter has been living in Saudi for the second time now for the past 3 months, she hates it. She lived there before for 2 yearss then moved to Qatar for 18 months now back to Riyaad. You cannot drive there if you are a woman, you need to wear an abaja and a scarf on your head when you go to town. You will stay ion a compound where you can were western clothes. I suggest she finds out first where they are going to live. You can spaces me and I will give you my daughter's email address if she want s to find out more about the living conditions.

A very dear friend of mine moved to Dubai about 7-8 years ago. His children where 2 and 4 when they moved there and they have all been very happy. Said he will never come back.
