Get a second opinion. My alsation had terrible arthiritis and someone told me to get human tablets for him. The pharmacist said never to do this. Their systems are totally different to ours and the human meds can cause other problems
Yes it's safe. Our one dog was on it no side effects
if the Vet said so I would take his word
I agree with Kosmos. A second vet's opinion won't cost you that much - and could save you thousands in the future.
Being a Vet I would expect him to know about animals?
Physiology in all mammals is fundamentally the same. Prednisone used for humans can be used for dogs, elephants, rats and monkeys. It just needs to be adjusted according to weight.
yes, i gave it to my cat. and a vet wont give you wrong advice, afterall, he cares for pets, why would he tell you that it's safe if he knows that it's not?
Yes it is perfectly safe, just remember the dosage needs to be tapered off not just stopped. for example one for 3 days 1/2 for two days and so forth, just make sure of the dosage with your Vet.
I would not agree. I moved hous once and decided to give my cats some human meds to make them sleep. The poor things went nuts for about ten minutes before the calmed down causing loads of scratches to me the wife and themselves.
