Open Question

Can the Gauteng auto-toll gantries be used for checking speed-over-distance?

If they can, will they be used, are they being used already, and if not ... why not? 17 mths ago - -55 min left to answer.

Of course it can they probably are or maybe just haven't thought about it, now stick to the speed limit and you'll be ok.

I asked the same question 6-months ago, as I thought it was inevitable they would, but apparently they won’t because they cant. In Spaces, I asked RS (to whom I gave the BA) how she was so certain, and her answer (which told of her involvement in the GFIP-project) assured me that she was correct. http://answerit.news24.com/Question/Will%20the%20ORT%20(Open%20Road%20Tolling)%20Gantries%20be%20used%20for%20speed%20monitoring%20and%20prosecution?/91788

Both practically and theoretically they should. Even if they do not do you for speeding they may come to haunt you somewhere against your vehicle insurer. The intervals at which you traverse more than two of those should be an indication of how fast you are doing/averaging. Armed with a court order your insurer may just demand from the operator your records (driving behaviour) if you happen to be involved in a freak accident along any one of the gantried motor ways.

They could, and in my view they should. people would be forced to drive slower and hopefully we would all be safer.

These things are evil and are against the principles of the constituiton and normal freedom of people. They should be removed or used for target practice.
