SuziQ.. Why no TV?? Yes I have one, but I hear of a new thing coming DTTV (Digital Terrestrial Television) which will require you to have a decoder of sorts to receive the standard TV signal. I am looking forward to it as then you can argue not to pay you TV license if you don't have the device specifically for DSTV subscribers.

Yes, I do, and I pay the fee grudginly every year. If only a lawyer could start a class action lawsuit against the shambolic efforts of the SABC to render a proper service and not abuse our fees, I would sign up like a shot. We should not be held captive and be forced to pay a license fee for the laughable reject-rubbish that they show, and we should be to have recourse when they waste our money: R400k on expenses for execs who seek out prostitute in London who they could not even pay anyway, 20 Million for Mercedes Benz cars (why can't they drive Toyato Tiidas?). Or maybe the license should be like a pre-paid electricity meter - that way the people that actually watch their offering can pay for it. I bought a TV to watch DSTV and not the rot that SABC shows.

In my honest opinion, a TV license is yet another payment that funds a service to our fellow "previously disadvantaged" citizens that dont pay for this service themselves. I pay for a full DSTV premium package, which is R620 a month (HD Package) that accumaulates to R7440 a year. Why they didnt just call the "TV Licence" an SABC subsription fee from the beginning baffles me, considering thats really what it is. Do I have a TV License? No I dont, and wont be getting one. When I buy a TV I buy it from a shop that doesnt request a TV license. I am also aware that SABC will be going Digital very soon, so why start paying for a service that will soon require a decoder of its own. Interesting thought though.... those sneaky buggers must have thought about this when they were planning to go digital.

No. I have a T.V. but we don't watch any of the crap on it- after we moved into our flat the BC was so kind as to tell us due to lightening and vandalism the aerials don't work. So we don't have any signal and we don't have DSTV. We have a ton of movies and stuff on DVD and computer. The T.V. is used soley for Playstation and DVD's and I'm not going to pay for a service I don't utilize.

Hello little Xmas Elf, Well, I do, only because I don't do the finances in our house That's up to the Females that ahs taken over that job, she used be called the Fiance (spelled tahat way abut SB Financier! ) Now we call her the mother of the children and (Where did this word come from ?) "Wife" Amy how, I wish some day to be able to say, Listen woman, you will not pay the TV license any more that's final ! To date, nothing has changed and the SABC still gets our Fee for, &pm news & weather, everyday, and On a Friday 7:30pm Noot vir Noot. Possibly a rerun repeat whatever. But when there Ruga or Cricket on, even those are GONE...... Should we not start paying our Licence Fees to DStv instead, the better of 2 evils. ( Hark, I feel a question coming on .. Oh yeah !

I have been paying my TV license every month per debit order for 15 years plus. The monthly cost is so small that I don't even see it going off. Larkspur and others just made me think! I don't watch SABC- so why pay!
