Does soda water really help you lose weight or is it a myth?

I heard soda water burns fat cells, or something in that line. Is it good or bad to drink a lot of gas in your water?

I drink 1,5l sparkling flavoured water a day. Can this hurt my body and in what way?

No no no! It will just ruin your teeth! Switch to plain water, there is more benefit in drinking still/tap water than there is in drinking soda water. Soda makes the body acidic, the body must neutralize this excess acid that we eat and drink. When the body cannot neutralize this acid, it stores it in fat cells. So instead of burning fat, which would release more acid into the system, the body burns muscle instead. Where on earth did you hear that one? No I think it is a myth. Drink lots of water or herbal teas, wont help you loose weight, only if you follow a good diet.

The flavoured soda water still contains either sugar or artificial sweetener. The first is obviously not what you want to be taking in if you're trying to lose weight, and the second has been proven to be dangerous for human intake (can cause multiple sclerosis symptoms, and a host of other nasties!) --- Also, ANY carbonated drink can contribute to cellulite. Stay away!

It's a myth. Sodawater will not burn fat and to much will rather eventually cause holes in your stomach lining. It is a fact however that drinking enough clean water is part and parcel of any weightloss program.

Well, I’m addicted to soda water and I’m obese, so it can't be true. I’ve heard that soda water makes your bones brittle, but fortunately I’m also addicted to milk, so my bones are covered. I agree with Boerseun, lots of plain water is the best.

It is true. Best not to drink anything sparkling or flavoured or with colourants. Occasionally should be fine but not often.

Be carefull you may float away with all the bubbles in your system hie hie.Only joking no this is an absolute horrible myth. The same as eating grapefruit. They only thing is grapefruit does have vit C and does release engery slowly therefore you feel less hungry. Drink ordinary water and go eat an healthy diet that is all that works.
