Is it Mandela's birthday? Nope, it is not a public holiday!!

No, but it has been declared Madiba Day and has anycase been used eversince I remember as an excuse to have a "party" since the ANC took over in 1994. So, they only now want people to devote almost an hour in "celebrating" Madiba's / Nelson Mandela's birthday, which happens mostly, though not all over, anycase.

No. It would not have made a huge difference because it's a Saturday. Besides, there are far too many public holidays, and I wish that the "silly season" every December would come to an end. This usually leads to disagreements in the workplace about who is allowed to take leav and who needs to work.

I hope not. The overall productivity in the country really sucks. Each public holiday loses the country billions of Rands. Time we became more efficient workers, like India and China, whose productivity leaves us standing.
