Resolved Question

Have you been admitted to a hospital lately or a reputable Clinic?

Did you find the amount of noise made by the nurses, male nurses, cleaners, visitors and all and sundry walking around, quite staggering? My wife was in Hi-Care for two days and I had to go and find someone in charge one evening to complain to. As always, we were paying an obscene amount of money to be there for a serious illness but the din was unbelievable!

I agree with the comments on Greenacres because we have used it often and they are very strict there. Our GP is in Uitenhage however, and the Cuyler Clinic is also up there with the good ones, it's just the noise and a stricter Matron is all that is necessary!

Nope, not lately, but when my dad was in ICU last year June, I noticed and this was at a Medi-Clinic, that the nurses talked out loud, laughed out loud and vaccuumed the place like six in the morning. Aren't the sick suppose to rest and get well? How can they rest with the vaccuuming sound, the trolleys "cling-clinging" down the hallways and the staff switching shifts?

Do I have to guess what colour they were, I got so pissed off this morning, was on the escalator, this man just pushed me out of the way to walk up. He could not ask politely if I could make space for him to pass. I ask people to move if I want to pass. But yes it is horrendous that they act that way in a hospital, I agree sick people really need quiet. Hope your wife is better. I suppose we have to complain more.

I know what you mean. I haven't thank goodness for many years. But when my mom was dying in ICU 8 years ago, even then it was bad and there was a very bright light shining in her eyes day and night, which made her suffering evening worse, but they would not switch it off. These places are for the convenience of the doctors (high beds that a sick person battles to get out of, especially when you have just had a major op) and loud music, shouting, loud laughter. The staff are very much left to do what they like. The patient is of no value -- just another number. No matter how much money you pay.

My daughter in law and grand daughter were also admitted to Green Acres. Cannot stop singing their praises. If not for them she would have lost our prescious grand daughter.

As per Moannet and Alicia. I was recently in Greenacres (PE) on two occasions and on both occasions I was most impressed by the attitude and behaviour of the nursing and administrative staff, the cleanliness of the place and the general hospital 'hotel-like' accommodation.

This last year has been hectic for my family and apart from me they all were in hospital at some point. Three differnet hopsitals were invloved and yes, I have also found them all noisy and very "busy". Getting rest in such a place is near to impossible.
