In moderation yes, depending on the salt in the biltong or the spices if you have a ulcer.

According to South African researchers, biltong is a safe protein snack. High-protein cooking of animal proteins produces chemical compounds that could lead to cancer formation – a process to which biltong isn't subjected. Enjoy a handful of biltong once or twice a week. Avoid biltong made with a lot of salt, as this could increase blood pressure. Biltong should also form part of an energy-controlled diet.

Anything in moderation is healthy. The Vitalinea eating plan allows you to eat lean biltong as one of your snacks - think it's about 30 grams if my memory serves me correctly. I think so long as it's lean, and not over-spiced/salted it can't do you any harm.

i think since it is rich in iron it would be good for people who are short of iron in their blood, and when my son was teething it was great to sothe his itching gums because the salt on the biltong

If it is not too fatty, yes, it is a great source of protein as well as one of the few natural sources of creatine

I just know this - I have a Kilojoule/Calorie book and according to the source, it shows that 100g grilled beef contains 521KJ and 124 Calories, where the same amount of beef biltong is 853KJ and 203 Calories. Don't ask me why but it is fattening and unhealthy if you eat too much of it. The salt content of biltong is also higher than normal grilled/cooked beef. So I don't think it is that healthy but hell, who cares - life is so miserable and if they take my biltong away, I'll kill them! We make our own biltong.
