Resolved Question

I need a fast remidy to pop a boil.

Please can anyone help, I have a boil on my buttocks and it is soooo painful! I cannot sit or drive, I have been putting xtrax on it for the past 2 days and it seems to be drawing it into a "blister" but no head has formed yet, tried to squeeze it but nothing happens and it is too sore, and methods you know of to sort this out? 28 mths ago

Samantha has been there! Don't go the squeezing route - boils are (generally) caused by Staphylococcus aureus which is a highly infections and contagious bacterium which you certainly don't want invading surrounding tissues. For many years I have used a damp, not too soggy, mixture green soap and sugar. I kid you not. It works a dream to draw out the boil and when it has you treat the wound with Bactroban to prevent further infection. Treat to pus from the boil like it is an alien from outer space as it is highly infectious, OK?

It would be better to wait for it to form properly. If you have lots of pain from the pressure on the region, use a large Dr Scholls Corn plaster (I kid you not) to provide extra padding and protection around the head.

Take a rag, soak it in warm water, and put it over the boil. This gets the pours in the skin to open so that the infection can get out of the body. In fact, they say that soaking in a warm bath could be the best way to get rid of a boil. Also, the heat will decrease the pain and bring all of the puss to a head. Be sure to clean it well with a disinfectant afterwards. Never user a needle.

Been there......take a hot water bottle and apply as much heat as you can to the boil. You can also grate green sunlight bar soap, apply inside a plaster, cover the boil and then put the hot water bottle on the boil for as long as you can. You can also bath in Epsom Salt water and then "scrub" the boil with dry Epsom salts. It also draws the puss out. Take lots of Vitamin C, Zinc and some natural antibiotics like garlic capsules. And then apply some antibacterial ointment to the boil which you can mix with the grated Sunlight bar pieces. Take some anti-inflammatory pills for the pain and bath in Dettol or Savlon water. Good luck!

Ahh, so sore. Take some green sunlight soap, grate it into flakes, half a teaspoon of sugar, and make a paste using very little water. Let the sugar disolve with the soap. Place the paste, a good dollip of it, onto a piece of gauze, and cover well with a large plaster. Leave for 12 hours. It will pull that pit out and then you can treat with savlon and keep it clean. This is painless and very efficient, believe me. This mixture will pull a sailor off a slut. Good luck.

Ei bloody na , I used to have them as a kid, I kid you not LoL And was told then, many years hence, that a boil is due to the fact that you have not bathed your body fully, and cleansed it to its shiny best, thus causing the bacteria to invade the area of the buttocks and to become infected . It's blood eina, I know.We used use a glass coke bottle in those days many years ago, and pour in boil (ing) hot water, then pourit out as quick as possible, and aim well and place it over the Boil, thios will draw the head to the surface and place all the pusstulence in the bottle which can be discarded. The wound is then dressed with gauze and Germaline healing ointment, or any other ointment ! BTW I don't suffer from bils anymore as I do bathe regularly, at least 2 to 3 times yearly. I am thinking of changing that because of the heating bill, to Once or twice leap yearly !

Take heed of what Neso says ...the contents of that boil are highly infectious..and the last thing you need it to splatter the world with it. Repress any urges to 'see it errupt' ...you need to cover this 'bacteria bomb' when it errupts. You also need to find out what is causing them. http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Boils/Pages/Causes.aspx and get some antibacterial soap. It will raise its ugly head when it is ready ...but l have heard that if you apply some crushed onion or crushed garlic to it for half an hour or so , it will bring matters to a head. Good Luck.

You'll have to wait until it's "ripe". Take heed what Neso says. You can make a poultice of soften sunlight soap and sugar and put it on the boil with a big plaster. It will draw it out afterwards. You can then try and open it with a sharp sterilised needle and don't squeeze but push the sides away so the rubbish will come out, or go and see your gp and let him help you.

Boil water, make a small hole in the boil , pour water in a bottle , now you need someone to hold your hand while another empties the bottle,as soon as the last drops out place the opening over the boil, the hot water causes a vacuum and the bottle sucks the goo out of the boil,Warning, its very painfull.

If the 'boil' is very deep, then it can take a long time to rupture and release the 'nucleus'. It would then be much better to have it incised and drained under local anaesthetic. The suggestion of Bactroban (mupirocin) is good, but it is better to use Fucidin (sodium fusidate) to heal and prevent the spread of the infection.

lol wolboude!!!!...Mantisman and Neso gives very good advice, but Lucas has exactly the right answer...go to your doctor, she/he will remove it probably under local anesthetic, give you the correct ointment and a bit of anti biotic....my mother believed boils mean you need more iron in your blood...

Eina... Good advice to use...

Use Swedish bitters if the rest of the advice has not been successful. It works for everything you can possibly imagine!! Put a bit on cotton wool and use a plaster. Then a hot bath will draw out anything else.

No pun intended from Suzi Q, lol. Good luck; it sounds really painful.
