Best Answer

A lot depends on what your definition of 'artifact' is! Oldest ship remains were found in Egypt and they date back 4000 years. Oldest religious artifact is reputedly the snake 'carving' found in Botswana and dated 70 000 years back. However if you include stone tools than those found in Ethiopia go back 2.5 million years!!!

there are many variables here; from pre-historic stone & bone tools & jewellery to "Noah's" Ark itself - depends which category the artefact falls under ...& "they" are still discovering amazingly old stuff all the time... the thing in the back of my fridge looks pretty ancient....I think it might be the remaining piece of butternut that was forming some very interesting phenomena recently.... think I'll leave it a while longer & see if it 'petrifies' or mutates or summin...mebbe societies in 2000 years time will find it & say WOW!!...wots this then..???
