More a question for my husband, but I'll try. I know that we have a TV card (couple hundred rand) that slots into a PC or Laptop, and connects to an ordinary TV cable and then you download free software to (TV Viewer something or other) to be able to watch TV on your computer, and it works like PVR - you can pause and then fast forward, or record to your Harddrive and then watch later. A lot of people think this is illegal - it is not - you are using a satellite/decoder/ordinary aerial NOT downloading via the internet - it is the same as having a VCR and "taping" shows.

Get hold of TVR computers, buy a TV tuner card (PCMCIA) or even a USB TV Tuner dongle, connect your DSTV output cable to the input jack on your new TV Card or USB dongle (which both come bundled with software for this purpose) and follow the on-screen instructions. Et Voila!

To watch TV using your laptop one, you need a TV PCMCIA Card that comes with an application(software) and drivers for it to work compatibly with you laptop. After installing the drivers you then install the application which you will be using to watch you TV channels. This device has an option of you connecting your decoder to it and watch your Paid TV channels like the other channels. In this case the software has the recording option which you can manipulate to store your recorded programmes into the laptops harddrive.

Xi8iT.x is right. Just install the capture software that comes with the USB dongle tuner.
