When you are buying cash, you're stuffed if you're thinking about getting a better price than at the Apple store itself. All the retailers stick to the Apple recommended retail price. Unless e.g. Incredible Connection has a special going on, which usually offers less than 5% discount. There is still some iPad 1 stock available at some Apple stores which you can buy a lot cheaper than the iPad 2 (but it has no camera and is slightly bulkier). With the iPad 3 probably being released in 2012, possible (but improbable) excess iPad 2 stock will go the same knock-off price route. If you want to go a finance deal through an ISP or and want to get a 3G model, I can tell you that Vodacom’s mobile internet bundles are far more generous than MTN’s.. something to keep in mind as one could quickly rack up the cost of a brand new iPad with out of bundle 3G rates!

I'm waiting for the Kindle Fire - which one can actually buy straight from Amazon so it would probably cost about R1, 600.00. Its perfect for what I want - a full colour e-book and e-zine reader (plays movies too). My iTouch does (almost) everything an iPad does so I cannot wait for 15 November for the international release.
