Resolved Question

Urinary tract infection?

Any natural remedies? I've tried citro soda since yesterday, but it still hurts today. I try to avoid taking anti-biotics at all costs. 45 mths ago

I can say this having experienced bladder infections countless times.. after going to the doctor the third time in a year, I was taught some very valuable lessons. DON'T drink citro-soda, all it does is MASK the infection. In other owrds, it doesn't get rid of it, it just relieves the symptoms. So it will most likely come back again, or it will infect your kidneys (which is what happened to me). Unfortunatley the only real way TO GET RID of a bladder infection is anti-biotics. I also hate them, but as Paddy said, if you take probiotics with them they aren't that bad. I haven't had an infection for almost two years now since going on anti-biotics, as well as following the docs advice, which was don't put bubble-bath in your bath, don't use any soap in that area which had colourants or perfumes in it (Iuse jhonson's baby aqueous cream bar), after sex go to the loo straight away to "flush" out any bacteria that could go to your bladder. Take citro-soda as a relief of the symptoms, but I suggest going to a doctor as well and getting the right meds for it, before it leads to something worse.

Anti-biotics are not that bad if you take them with probiotics. Citrosoda is also the best that I know of, perhaps give it time. And drink lots of water.

I had that & thought I was going to die. Cranberry tablets, they are more concentrated than the juice. I drink Cranberry juice all the time. Cranberry is amazingly good for you Urinary Tract system & it also prevents UTI infections. You can ask any Dr about Cranberry.

Bianca is right. And drink lots of water. And at some point you have to make a call and get the antibiotics - else the infection could end up in your kidneys and you DONT want that - think, hospitalization... Antibiotics + Probiotics...

yes, unfortunately, as someone mentioned already, citro-soda only masks the symptoms. I was suggested cranberry juice as well as a lot of water, no perfumed soaps, and cotton undies... But it kept coming back... I eventually went to the doc...

I promise you that Haaarlemensis heals it. Also drink a lot of Citus Soda. Haarlemensis is a Lennon medicine. My daughter has always had problems with this + operations. Now, whenever she feels it coming on, she buys her medicine from virtually anywhere and it clears is up. You have to drink at least 12 glasses of water a day. Try and make it a habit.

There is URI Kleer, you find it in pharmacies and Clicks. They have the maintenance pack and the treatment pack- with six pills inside. You use the treatment pack for a week but normally after the first day there is a difference. I am one of those people prone to it I use Cranberry tablets as supplements and I haven't had one for more than a year now. Almost operated on because my uretha is shaped like this and that which makes it easy for the infection(you know doctors).

Get the antibiotics to clear up the infection, then as a precaution, drink Cranberry juice or take the tablets, drink plenty of water, eat yogurt everyday (plain is best,I personally can't stomach the stuff). When you go to the toilet wipe from front to back, lots of woman wipe from back top front. Avoid bathing in bubble bath, savlon and bathoils or what every you like t put in your bath, if you are porne to infections shower is best. Avoid using cloloured soaps and toilet paper ( don't know if you still get). Wear cotton panties and avoid nylon or what ever. This sounds funny but, you must have a wee after having sex it clears anything left behind out and make sure you wash down there.

Listen to what duits has to say. The internet is really no place to seek medical answers - if you suspect you have a medical problem the right thing to do is go see your doctor first.

Rather go to the doctor. I got one some time back and after two bottles of citro soda (and cranberry pills, olive leaf extract and TONS of water) I went to the doctor. You can't really mess with those kinds of things- the infection could spread into your kidneys. If you take pro-biotics and eat well the anti-biotics won't really stuff you up.

Well i'nm not sure.

Citro-soda changes the pH and therefore the "pain & burn" should be less. This is not a cure - only a "mask" as has been said. Rather see the doctor - there are other remedies other than antibiotics, such as URISPAS - however I am not a medical doctor. Rather fix the problem. See http://urispas.net/

y our pH LEVEL of your blood needs to be regularized and needs to be kept constant.go to a health shop and ask how this is done.

I had 3 bladder infections in 3 months last year. I took anti-biotics the first two times, which cleared it up. I don't like taking anti-biotics, so when it returned for the 3rd time, I went to see a homeopath at the Weleda Pharmacy in Bryanston and she gave me some fantastic advice. The remedy that I took was actually for parasites (yuck), but it cleared the infection up, and I haven't had anything go wrong for more than 12 months now. I would suggest going to see a qualified Homeopathic therapist and see what they can suggest. As everyone else has said, stay away from the Citro-Soda. It only masks the symptoms! Weleda also has a bottle of drops which says "bladder infections" on the bottle. Take the recommended dosage of that and it also helps really well. Good luck!
