Resolved Question

What could be the reason why my dog's stomach growls really loud?

It happened last night but I plan on taking her to the vet later. I just want to know if this is something common. She doesn’t eat her food but she did eat her dog treats and had some milk and water. She's about 3 years old and she doesn’t really eat dog food (never wanted to), she only eats chicken.

I don't think she's hungry. I give her fresh chicken in the morning and fresh chicken in the evening. During the day I leave dog chunks(that she never eats, I've tried all sorts). She likes her dog biscuits though.

Moannet's probably right. Maybe your dog just needs a more "doggy" type of diet? Probably it's just wind. And if so... RUUUUUN!! hehehe ;-)

Its hunger. As part of the digestive process, the stomach spamodically contracts and relaxes, in order to thoroughly mix the digestive juices with the food. If the stomach is empty, then the stomach wall rubs against itself, producing that growling sound. So, in fact, its the same noise your stomach makes when you are hungry....solution? Adjust the doggies feeding time/quantity/frequency as you are letting him go hungry.

She might be hungry or feel bloated because of the chicken.

He's probably digesting. That's why our stomachs seem to growl too - digesting our food, which then makes us hungry again. He might have indigestion, too, which is why he doesn't want to eat. Give him a few more hours and let him outside to munch on some grass if he needs to.

Dogs should not drink milk at all! It could be life threatening! Please check Health24.com - Pet health! Dogs are dairy intollerant (if that is how you say it)!!!!

I suggest you give her pellets with a sprinkle of chicken on top - she will eventually eat from hunger - its a battle of the wills. Don't give in keep the same diet and I agree never give dogs milk - water is all they should drink.

take her to the vet for a check up - just in case but remember that dogs become fussy eaters because we allow it!! stop feeding your dog 'people' food - its actually making her into a fussy eater and most likely interfering with her digestion (wind in tummy) give her dog food which is specaily formulated to supply all the necessary nutrients for her health leave the pellets there - she will eat when she is hungry - its a survival instint - she will not starve and most important of do not give in!! always make sure that she has plently of fresh water (NOT milk) to drink GOOD LUCK - its all about being the boss
