The first ever monkey astronaut was Albert, a rhesus monkey, who on June 11, 1948 rode to over 63 km (39 miles) on a V2 rocket. Albert died of suffocation during the flight.

Albert, he died during traveling into space. The only two monkeys that survived a safely return to earth are Abel and Baker. Abel died in 1959 and Baker lived until 1984

There are more than 200 countries in the world. He called the trip a liberation struggle. Came back to earth exhausted and disoriented. Adopted, he was, by some friendly zoological garden in one of the 200 countries. Released back into the wild. He might be running some country on this planet called earth, for all I remember.

Sadly, he didn't come back. This space probing much now stop and they must spend the money rather on feeding the trillions who are starving. AND NOT leading innocent animals to their deaths [not in space travel anymore -- I don't think-- but in many other industries].
