Resolved Question

What is the cause of one's body becoming too acidic?

Causing joint pain (not gout - just everywhere else, especially my feet/shoulders/elbows) - I dont drink.......

Lucas and Neso, thanks for your words, but you do need to google a bit on this subject? Once I bent down, acid (heartburn) shot up my throat and got into my lungs and I could not breathe. After a little shopping trip or cleaning the house/doing washing etc, my feet gets so sore that I cannot walk on them - I cry. We do have a lot of arthritis in the family and I know what that feels like (had rheumatic fever as a child). The sore feet go away after lying down for a while. I am using alkaline base powder on a daily basis and that helps a lot with getting up in the mornings. Moi, your comments make the MOST sense to me - I will definitely try and avoid the stuff and thanks for the link Sam, very intersting about the lemon juice in water in the mornings!

Best Answer

Stress, diet --- too much 'white' food, too much sugar. Best to have a balanced diet of colours; green, red, white -- lots of green, if poss. I know it but I don't necessarily do it.

Imbalance in your ph count. Drinking has nothing to do with it. It's a combination of many things.

It must be some fruit juice you drink either some spicy meat you eat

Some homeopath has been feeding you gunk again. increased acid cannot remain in solution for too long, as it will cause metabolic failure and death. The acid can however bind too other substances and tissues and cause inflammation. These acidic substances can arise ex the diet or be due to a metabolic disorder. How sure are you that you do not have an auto-immune disorder that is attacking your joints?

Right on lucas. One's body pH is closely regulated and controlled; any swing either way would soon lead to death. What makes you think your body is acidic and by this I also mean what part of your body?

TRUSS me when I say Gambino -- see first if there is something in your diet that doesn't agree with you, before going to the trouble of looking for an autoimmune disease. I have personally had experience with both over many years, and know what I am talking about. Don't listen to the old fogeys .... Science is all very good but it doesn't beat personal experience.

I have been acidic since I was borne. I think it comes with the genes. I could never wear lipstick...any colour went a maroonish red. Acid, they said. Hehehehehe.

Certain foods can aggravate things like gout and arthritis. Also drink plenty of water.

I have the same problem and I have found that since cutting out all yeast products and eating a lot of green vegetables there is a vast improvement. I have not had an attack in 4 months. Give it a try. It has worked for me.

http://www.quackwatch.com/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/DSH/coral2.html Afraid Lucas and Neso are not all wrong. It is true that you may have arthritis, and possible that you are bringing up bile from your stomach..maybe a hiatus hernia or other gullet reflux problem would be causing that. Osteo arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis can cause the problems with your limbs. To help with reflux acids, lower your intake of milk products (very fatty) and other fatty foods. Everyone has acids in the stomach..very strong ones too....but some people have heartburn/GERD/Acid reflux and that can be caused by a multitude of things...and maybe you should have a endoscopy ..or camera put down your throat into your stomach..which will detect any abnormalities or hernias that are causing the stomach to leak its acid into your eosophagus.

The symptoms you describe are typical of a hiatus hernia (reflux when bending http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiatus_hernia , and acid reflux (heartburn) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gastroesophageal_reflux_disease . Both conditions can be affected by the food you eat and alleviated to some degree by antacids. But go read the above Websites for more in-depth information. ** neither of these conditions mean you have an imbalance of pH at the cellular or haematological level – if you have any understanding of basic science and human physiology you would know that this just does not happen http://www.quackwatch.com/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/DSH/coral2.html . ** As for your sore feet; I can’t think that this has anything to do with the above conditions. ** Once again this raises the problems of questionable advice (?), diagnosis and treatment you might expect when consulting a social website or the Internet. This is why we have qualified medical doctors whose job it is to do this following careful examination and appraisal of all your symptoms.
