Undecided Question

What do you do if you cant find the owners of a lost dog and don't want to keep it OR take it to SPCA?

a BEAUTIFUL TRAINED Alsation nearly got killed by running across 4 lanes of traffic (Voortrekker Road - Moot) We took the animal home since all the vets in the area were closed on the public holiday. We took it to our vet to check for if it has been chipped. No go. I now placed an ad in Junkmail and will print ads to put up at all the vets in the area. My Boerboel male doesn't like this guy at all and new dog sleeps in the house. He HATES the pig and donkeys so no way will I be able to keep it if I can't locate the owner.

eJay, I first want to get him to his rightful owner. I would cry my eyes out if he was my dog and I couldn't find him! He is used to sleeping on a bed, so SOMEBODY will look for him!

Thanks Hopestar! I contacted the neighbourhood watch. Let's see what happens

Contact your nearest vet, one that you trust and ask him for advice.

well, never say no to a free meat :) lol, placing posters in the area where you found him will probably have the most success. also notify the spca, that is one of the 1st places a concerned owner will phone.

Phone all the Vets and the SPCA in your area. The owners are sure to contact one of them. I got my dogs back this way, when builders left a gate open, when we were living in Pretoria. Ask Radio 702 for help too.

You might find the owner through the local vet in the area. I lost my dog once and the people who found him sent a photo of him to our neighbourhood watch who then emailed the pic to all the members. You can imagine our joy when we opened our email to find a pic of our dog. Good luck. I hope you find the owners:) Holding thumbs.

Hi rebut! I found two little doggies a while back and found their owner within a day on a traffic update page on Facebook of all places!!! I'm not sure where you are but take a pic of the guy and stick on this page if you're in Cape Town or follow the links to the correct page for your province. http://www.facebook.com/TrafficWC I also called all the vets in the area with the details and put up one of those little cards on the notice boards in all the shops (Pick n Pay, Spar etc) in my area. But the winner at the end of the day was Facebook! Someone recognised the dogs, let the owner know and we had a very very happy reunion :) Someone is bound to recognise him!!

You can leave a description of the dog at the SPCA and your contact details - this worked for me, the owner phoned me within 1 day and fetched his beloved dog - was very grateful.
