You must understand that when a body is alive its mobile and agile. The legs or arms can balance the bodies weight, so if you try and help someone up …with their balancing system in place, it becomes easier, this giving the appearance that he might weight in 100 kg’s or so, but I can pick him up. Got to the Gym and try and pick up a 100 in dumbbells. That’s dead weight and you feel the complete intensity of gravity against this weight. So you see, its not that the body weights more, but rather the weight/mass changes its form to give you dead weight. On another post they talk about the soul having a weight to it. Nonsense. The effect they are recording is the change to a carbon life form once dead. Theres been much debate over this issue or a tangible soul that leaves the body, but no one or no instrument has successfully recorded anything close to a soul.

Not sure how much more you will weigh, but I know it has something to do with the muscles, and they weigh more when they are relaxed.. i.e. not beoing used at all. It's know as "Dead weight".

Hey, where have you been? Missed your luscious lips and curvy bod! Now BonQ will go mad again....LOL! Sorry, don't know the answer to your question, but I guess it has something to do with your muscles weighing more when dead/relaxed and trapped air too....not sure!

its rigamortis they say the body is more rigid when your dead so its harder to move.

I suppose it is either the additional mass of the maggots, or it may be the extra weight of the lead bullet. Other than that I really didn't even know that a corpse gains weight at death!

What are you planning?

If the body weighs exactly 60kg when alive it will still weigh exactly 60kg when dead - neither more nor less. It's an urban legend that dead bodies weighs more and thus 'dead weight' (which is actually a nautical term anyway), or that it weighs less due to the departure of the 'soul' (whatever that is!). If you Google Snopes or Urban Legends or Wiki Answers I'm sure you will find more on this.

It does not weigh any more. It may seem like it, but it isn't true.

It doesn't. Some said it would weigh less, others say it weighs more. The mere fact that there's no conclusive statement of which it will be, could make you come to the conclusion that i) there's no stable evidence to prove either, ii) that someone witnessed some changes, based their assumptions on these few cases and thus wanted to get media attention by getting this public. If there was any conclusive evidence to prove either, we'd not be discussing this right now.

Not sure. The only part that freaked me out was when I was told that all your crap come out not long after you die.

Becaue then its dead weight

Technically, it doesnt weigh any more at death. Or less for that matter. Why it APPEARS that dead weight is more, is possibly because when a person is alive or cognitive or concious, they tend to support themselves to some degree or another. Think of the traditional husband carrying the wife over the threshhold stance - it is easier for the husband to carry the wife because in some ways she is supporting herself (with her hand around him, and possibly she is sitting up) ie, counteracting gravity, ie taking some of the load to remain upright or "carried" - compare that with same man carry the same woman who has fainted. It will APPEAR that she is heavier.

CD is right, it doesn't actually weigh anymore, but due to the stiffness it is harder to move, that's why when someone for example passes out, they are referred to as "a dead weight"....
