Use the small bars of soap in your clothes cupboards and book shelves.

OUST spray - yes this is going to sound weird but it works for cockroaches as well. Spray it in your cupboards

Pack out all your cupboards, spray your cupboard out with insecticide, wait for it to dry then shake out all your clothes and pack them back. With the books vacuum them gently. Silverfish like dark damp places, so make sure that your cupboards are dry.

Moth balls (Napthalene). Works almost instantly and keeps them away.

I use only mothballs. In winter and then in summer I pack all the clothes I do not need in those massive square bags. Zip them well and chuck in a lot of mothballs. Store in top cupboards. For the rest mothballs at the bottom of my cupboard and my clothes do not smell like them.

Fumigate the whole house...shake all clothes outside..wash them. Put books in the sun for as long as you can. You can buy wooden balls..cedar wood..that don't smell as strong as mothballs. you can also get loads of lavender bags in your cupboards....find someone with a lavender bush..and pack the flowers in a pair of panti hose or socks...let it dry in the sun..and hang in cupboards...refresh in microwave every month.

well.. if were neat and clean you wouldn't get them in the first place... but try the moth balls
