Fizz you need a passport and one that's valid for six months after the end of your planned trip. Home Affairs can get you one in six weeks, some ex-Home Affairs staffers run businesses to fast track applications. I have been to 25 African countries and made about 300 trips to them. For the most part, SADC countires don't need visas although some of these have only changed in the past year. DRC, Mozambique I think have recently changed. North of SADC countries you need visas but some of the smaller countries don't have embassies here which makes it awkward. Phone your travel agent as they have a guide-book on the whole process of geting any visa. Even with a visa it can be dodgy, I was held up at Maputo airport because the embassy had written "month" and "visa type" in the wrong block on the form. They just wanted some folding stuff but never did. I hate corruption. One last thing, if you're working in any of these countries, even when you don't need a visa, you probably need a work permit.
